Writing, dreaming and sharing

Today I would like to give thanks to my Heavenly Father for a life well blessed and a dream unfolding. Sometimes life takes crazy turns and leaves us wondering what hit us. Sometimes it is just so perfect, you have to step back in awe. Most of my life, it’s been one or the other!

Today dawned crisp, clear and cold – the thermometer outside the bedroom french doors registered 0 degrees. When I settled into my chair at my writing desk the beautiful snow laden mountain that graces my view on a clear day, was bathed in pink. I warmed my toes on the heating vent and offered a prayer of praise and thanks. This is how I start my day most mornings now that I am deeply entrenched in the first revision of my first novel.

On the weekends, my husband of just over three years will make me coffee and berries & yogurt for breakfast while I pound away, and bring me a toasted tuna sandwich when I don’t want to stop for lunch. I knew when I married him that I was blessed with an incredibly loving and supportive mate, but that now seems such an understatement!

I work for an amazing woman who just happens to be a literary agent. The journey that brought me to her was definitely one of those God things that left me in awe – it still does! I’ll tell you more about that journey – it led me to my husband, too – but that will be another day.

Oh, yeah – about Dad&Me;! My mother told this story best: I was the third child, and after two adorable girls, my dad really hoped for a boy. He told my mom that girl or boy, he had a boy’s name picked out. The day I was born my mom didn’t have much notice before she told my dad it was time to go to the hospital – and fast! He quickly rounded up a neighbor lady to watch the two sibs, and hurried my mother to the ’49 Nash parked at the curb. To their astonishment, and lucky for me, in the next moments I arrived before they even left the curb. My mom told me my dad’s jaw dropped as he delivered me and realized he had another daughter. It was in that moment we began a bond that cannot be broken. My sisters got first viewing right from the picture window, while the babysitter held them up and my father proudly displayed me. My dad was blessed with the son he had hoped for when my baby brother was born three years later. There’s a lifetime of stories to tell about Dad&Me.; I hope you come back to hear them!
