Celebrate A Place in His Heart with me!

Horton Point Lighthouse

Horton Point Lighthouse

On a lovely October day in 1999 my mother and I wound our way south on I-95 from Boston. We maneuvered our rental car to the ramp of the New London to Orient Point ferry and landed on Long Island. We were there to see the Horton Point Lighthouse in Southold, but what I found in that very special place was the tiniest beginning of A Place in His Heart. I hope you enjoy the love story of Mary and Barnabas Horton. With young Joseph and Benjamin by their sides, their story is a journey through places of the heart – love and loss, faith and despair. It’s a story from my heart, and one I hope will touch yours. Blog Tour and Giveaway:   And now for some fun stuff! It seems appropriate to kick off the blog tour with an interview by author Jane Kirkpatrick. I met Jane in February of 2009 during her book signing at Waucoma Bookstore in Hood River, OR. She has been a mentor and a friend to me ever since. I am so honored she is one of the endorsers for  A Place in His Heart and that my first book signing will be with her June 6th, at Waucoma.  What a way to launch a book! If you would like to find out which character from A Place in His Heart I admire most, along with a few other tidbits about my writing journey, please join us on Jane’s blog today! With this being my first novel, it warrants a lengthy celebration with lots for friends! From May 30th through June 16th, other bloggers have partnered with me so I hope you will join us on the journey and meet some new people while we all celebrate. The posts are ALL DIFFERENT… trust me, you won’t read the same thing. The hyperlinks to the blogs will be updated once the blog post is live. Thanks for checking back in to see what is new! Hi Rebecca,

Congratulations on your new book. We apparently share common ancestors in Barnabas Horton and Mary Langton. They are my 10th great grandparents, and I’m descended through their daughter Mary. My 3rd great grandfather, Benjamin Petty, migrated from Long Island to Alabama in the 1830s, and he descended from them as well as from two children of Reverend John Youngs’. I’ve done a lot of genealogical research relating to the Suffolk County of the 17th and 18th centuries, and it is fascinating! I was very excited to learn about your new book, and I can’t wait to read it.

Congrats on your novel, Rebecca. KUDOS. I just got off the phone with my mother. She lives in Southold and I told her about your upcoming visit to her library. I’ll make sure she gets there for your reading. She has been a docent at the Horton’s Point Lighthouse for years. I noticed you live in Washington. Reading this, I assume in south western WA? I’m in Seattle and grew up in Southold. Small world, looking forward to reading your book.
