A big chunk of my heart seemed to have stayed behind when I left my ancestral home in the U.K. But when I look at the pictures we brought home, I know the hole is filled with wonderful memories of Mowsley, England – a place in my heart!

I just ordered all three of your Southold books two nights ago and look forward to receiving them. My mother had called me very excited because she had just begun reading “A Place in His Heart” and wanted to confirm that this was the same Barnabas Horton and Mary Langton who are among my father’s early Colonial ancestors. My husband and I took my parents on a New England genealogical vacation several years ago, and one of the key places we visited was the area around Southold, including the nearby Horton Point Lighthouse. Barnabas and Mary are my 8x-great grandparents, through their daughter Mary who married John Budd, Jr.
I am envious of your visit to Mowsley, England, to see the old home church of Barnabas and probably Mary. I hope that my husband (who, like you, is a retired flight attendant) and I are able in the next few years to also make a trip to Britain partly so I can also visit old family heritage sites in England, Scotland, and Wales. I will definitely add St. Nicholas Church to my list of must-see sites.
